Summer 2019
Welcome to the Political Risk Index for Summer 2019, produced in partnership with Oxford Analytica. The expert contributors to this publication include political and economic analysts based at universities and research institutes around the world, bringing you up-to-date, relevant and meticulously researched information on some of the most vulnerable territories to help you more effectively manage your political risk.
2019 has already seen a number of elections with more due to take place in the second half of the year. India, Indonesia and Ukraine have already gone to the polls with Argentina and Uzbekistan following suit later in the year. In the coming weeks, we will continue to monitor how the elections are influencing the political risk factors in these countries and look forward to sharing these insights in the next update of the Political Risk Index.
In the last Index we noted the continued trend of the overall risk rising. However, in this edition, we are seeing a lull in this trend with more countries seeing a falling risk score than a rising one (19 falling versus 17 rising). It will be interesting to see if this will produce a complete change of direction.
As announced in April, Christophe Meurier will assume the role as Global Head of Financial Solutions with effect from 1 July and I will continue as the Chairman. We are delighted to welcome Christophe who brings a tremendous depth of knowledge and experience to our market leading business.
Thank you for reading the Political Risk Index, we are sure you will find the content as useful and valuable as ever. If you would like to discuss any of the topics in this Index – or indeed, anything we have not covered – please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours Sincerely,
Paul L. Davidson
