Global Head of Crisis Management, Willisjo.holliday@wtwco.com
It seems like only yesterday we were releasing our last report reviewing 2023 and looking ahead to a number of elections in the coming year and how these may affect the global risk landscape. A year on and much has changed. Governments have been decided, with a high rate of incumbent losses driven in part by domestic economic challenges, and we have seen new areas of conflict as well as the continuation of some existing ones.
Firstly though, we look back over 2024. How significant were those elections, and what have we seen in terms of incidents at the country and regional levels? This report provides insights from our subject matter experts and features key topics and trends revealed by our in-house risk advisory and crisis support service, Alert:24. The review includes perspectives on the kidnap, extortion, accident and health, active assailant, maritime piracy, terrorism and political violence risks that are likely to characterize the year ahead.
And so to 2025; we look ahead and delve deeper into specific issues: 'Global trade and political violence' examines the effects of recent conflicts and risks for 2025, and 'The new risk landscape for corporate executives' highlights corporate executive security recommendations.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to the team if you would like to discuss any of the topics covered by the report. We are very proud to have had the opportunity to work with clients through 2024 and we thank you for your continued support.
